About Artist

Shepard Fairey (American, b. 1970) is a contemporary artist, graphic designer, and illustrator who emerged from the skateboarding scene of Southern California. His work became more widely known during the 2008 US presidential election season thanks to his hugely popular “HOPE” poster, produced in support of Barack Obama. Fairey’s work is included in the permanent collections of numerous institutions worldwide, including the Smithsonian, Washington, DC, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York, among others, with recent solo exhibitions at Positive-Propaganda Artspace, Munich, and Jacob Lewis Gallery, New York.
